U.S. Ambassador to Mozambique Honored CSOs Graduating from CAP's Intensive Capacity Strengthening Program
At a special ceremony in Maputo on February 10, U.S. Douglas Griffiths honored Mozambican civil society organizations (CSOs) that have proven they have the capacity to play an increasingly significant role in the nation's campaign to fight HIV and promote health. As recipients of grants and customized technical assistance provided by the FHI 360 Capable Partners Program (CAP) Mozambique, these CSOs have worked for several years to meet CAP's rigorous operational and performance standards. Today, the organizations can more effectively deliver results, manage funds and adapt their strategies to mitigate the effects of the epidemic.
National Director of Cooperation and Planning for the Ministry of Health Dr. Celia Goncalves and Deputy Executive Secretary to the National Aids Council Diogo Milagre joined Ambassador Griffiths in recognizing the accomplishments of top performing organizations at the event. Seven graduated CSOs were featured at an exposition and reception following the ceremony.
Since 2009, CAP Mozambique has coupled competitive grants with intense coaching and mentoring to help dozens of leading local CSOs strengthen program design and implementation and the core internal systems—governance, financial management, human resources and monitoring and evaluation--that are critical to fulfilling an organization's mission. CAP Mozambique is funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) under the U.S. President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief.
Meet promising Mozambican organizations and learn more about CAP's capacity building approach.
